The project also investigates
the many changes made to
the Yeppoon main beach foreshore in the first half of the C20th; the construction
of the Ross Creek bridges, the first in 1925, and the other in 1972, and the development
of the creek mouth; Double Head, which is now Rosslyn Bay boat harbour; the Causeway
Bridge finished in 1939; the Emu Park jetty opened by Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne
Bruce in 1924; and the Scenic Highway itself, which connects Yeppoon and Emu Park,
but which from the outset in the late 1930s, was conceived with tourist traffic
in mind. |
